Getting to know each other

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at First Presbyterian Church a great one!

First Presbyterian Church meets every Sunday and offers three service options to choose from:

  • Outdoor Contemplative Worship at 8:00am. This service meets outside in the bell tower garden on the West side of the church. It includes Celtic and Taize inspired music, time for silent meditation, as well as a thoughtful, bible-based sermon by Pastor Neal. There is outdoor childcare available for this service on the church playground.
  • Online Contemporary Worship at 9:45am. This service is streamed live via our website and facebook page, and features contemporary Christian music led by our praise band, a "video storytime" for children, and a thoughtful, bible based sermon by Pastor Neal. This service ends with the Lord's Prayer, and a charge & blessing to the congregation.
  • Online Traditional Worship at 10:00am. This service is streamed live via our website and facebook page, and overlaps with the online contemporary service. The traditional service begins with the chiming of the hour, scripture & sermon, and continues with an anthem, classic hymns, and liturgies. The service concludes with a benediction and a postlude on our magnificent pipe organ (the largest in El Paso).

First Presbyterian Church is located at 1340 Murchison Dr., near the intersection of Brown and Murchison. You can find us on Google Maps by clicking here.

What can I expect?

How long is a HOPE CHURCH service?

In total, a worship service at First Presbyterian Church is about 45 minutes in length. Services begin with music or the "chiming of the hour" followed by an opening prayer and a time for children. At every service, our pastor reads a scripture passage and preaches a thoughtful, inspiring and biblically-based message. On the first Sunday of each month, we observe the sacrament of the Lord's Supper, in which all people are welcome to participate, regardless of membership status, faith background, or belief.

What's the culture like at First Presbyterian Church?

Sundays at First Presbyterian Church are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.

What about my kids?

We believe in the sacred dignity and worth of every child, and that learning about God should be fun and exciting. We also take your children’s safety very seriously. Because of this, we have a detailed check-in process for our children's program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in if your children are preschool aged or younger. Children in grades 1-6 begin worship in the service with their parents, and generally leave before the sermon for our Godly Play program (a Montessori-like approach to experiencing Bible stories). They are then returned to their parents before the end of the service.
