Getting to know each other

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at First Presbyterian Church a great one!
SERVICE TIME
First Presbyterian Church meets every Sunday for worship at 11:00am. On a seasonal basis, we offer adult and children’s Sunday School classes at 9:45am, and there are often fellowship activities, meetings, and potluck lunches at 12:00 after the worship service.
LOCATION & DIRECTIONS
First Presbyterian Church is located at 1340 Murchison Dr., near the intersection of Brown and Murchison. You can find us on Google Maps by clicking here. Worship takes place in our beautiful sanctuary, which was designed in 1960 with the help of famous southwestern artist Tom Lea. When you arrive at the church, feel free to park in any of the available parking lots, but come in through the large, wooden entrance doors that are facing Murchison Street.

What can I expect?

HOW LONG IS AN FPC CHURCH SERVICE?
In total, a worship service at First Presbyterian Church is about 1 hour in length. Services begin with music or the “chiming of the hour,” prayer, and announcements. At every service, our pastor reads a scripture passage and preaches a thoughtful, inspiring and biblically-based message. On the first Sunday of each month, we observe the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, in which all people are welcome to participate, regardless of membership status, faith background, or belief.
WHAT’S THE CULTURE LIKE AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH?
Sundays at First Presbyterian Church are excitingcasual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
We believe in the sacred dignity and worth of every child, and that learning about God should be fun and exciting. We also take your children’s safety very seriously. Because of this, we have a detailed check-in process for our children’s program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in if your children are preschool aged or younger. Children in grades 1-6 begin worship in the service with their parents, and generally leave before the sermon for our Godly Play program (a Montessori-like approach to experiencing Bible stories). They are then returned to their parents before the end of the service.
